The driver line-up for
FIA GT has already been confirmed, with Niarchos set to share one
Ferrari 430 with long-term driving partner Tim Mullen and Kirkaldy joined by Le Mans Series GT2 champion Rob Bell in the sister car, putting the team amongst the favourites for GT2 honours in 2008.
A successful campaign would then act as a pre-cursor to an entry at Le Mans in 2009, and Niarchos said that was his ultimate goal.
"The ultimate objective would be to go to Le Mans in 2009, which we aim to do, and drive in the car and do well," he said. "For anyone to drive at Le Mans is a dream in their own right, for a team owner to go to Le Mans is an achievement in its own right – if you go there as a team owner, drove and did well you would cover yourself in champagne and go home. There is just the simple matter of winning then!
"I've been successful at Le Mans in the first two years I have been there so whatever happens going forward, I can say that I have done it. That is a dream realised for a lot of people so going back in '09 is a priority. We didn't want to put in an entry for this year, not because we wouldn't get it, but because we wanted to focus on getting everything right with what we plan to do. After that, Le Mans is part of our agenda and a top two finish in FIA GT will grant us an automatic entry anyway, so it's part of the plan."
