Scuderia Ecosse enjoyed a solid start to the 2008
FIA GT Championship after setting the GT2 pace during two-days of testing at Monza.
With Jamie Davies and Fabio Babini at the wheel of the
Ferrari 430, the team posted a solid time of 1min 51.313secs on the opening day of the test as the circuit rubbered in, before a stunning lap from Davies on day two was enough to put the team top of the GT2 pile with a time of 1min 50.358secs.
“It has been a fantastic two day test here at Monza,” team boss Stewart Roden said. “Pirelli have done a superb job with the tyres over the winter and work consistently well over long runs. To be fastest again is just great. Both drivers have done a brilliant job and it is pleasure working with them.”
Both drivers were also happy with the performance of both the car and the new Pirelli tyres, with Davies admitting it had been awesome to lead the way in the first group test of the season.
“It is always good to be back on the official racing scene,” he said. “Day one went well and I am more than happy with the team and the tyres. Day two was just awesome and to top the time sheets rounds off a perfect test. This test has proved that the Monteblanco test was very useful and the tyres Pirelli have produced are a definite step up.”
