Alex Davison is to make his debut in the
FIA GT Championship at Nogaro after being called into the Prospeed Competition line-up for the eighth round of the year.
With Emmanuel Collard unavailable due to commitments in the Petit Le Mans in America, Davison will join Richard Westbrook for the French event at the wheel of the #61 Porsche 997 GT3 RSR.
The Australian comes into the event having finished second in the GT2 class of the Le Mans Series and with plenty of experience of racing the Porsche – having raced in a number of Carrera Cup series around the globe.
“It is always a nice surprise to be invited to do a race which I hadn't planned on doing so I am really looking forward to my first FIA GT race,” he said. “Unfortunately I don't know the circuit at all so with the limited track time in practice, that is going to be a bit tricky, but luckily I am familiar with the GT3 RSR so hopefully it won't take me too long to learn the track and get on the pace.
“Richard and Manu have been having an unlucky run of late but have been really fast so hopefully we can have a good weekend, to help Richard move up in the championship points a bit.”
