Nurburgring winner Christian Montanari vaulted up the championship order following his first win of the year, while Mikhail Aleshin’s podium has also moved him into the top ten in the standings.
Aside from Ben Hanley, three other British drivers will be determined to do well in front of their home crowd. After finishing on the podium in Monaco, James Rossiter has struggled to repeat his early season form of late, while Steven Kane and Robbie Kerr will also be trying to increase their points totals.
As regards the British teams, Carlin Motorsport has confirmed that South African driver Adrian Zaugg will line up alongside Aleshin. At Comtec Racing, Celso Miguez – who has switched from Pons Racing – will team up with Alx Danielsson.
Meanwhile there are several driver changes for this weekend, not least Milos Pavlovic, who moves from the Eurointernational team he drove for in just two rounds to Draco Multiracing in place of Tomas Kostka.
Marco Barba joins his brother Alvaro in at Jenzer in place of Alessandro Bonetti, while GD Racing have returned armed with Carlos Iaconelli and Miguel Molina. Finally, Marco Bonanomi has been ousted by GD Racing’s refugee Patrick Pilet.
