Not that this bothered Danielsson, who has put the small Comtec Racing team within striking distance of a surprise title in their debut season.
Still, with 16 different podium winners this season, the championship is as much about keeping a myriad of talent behind them as it is about beating their nearest rivals.
Indeed, several drivers have made their pitch for a late rise through the championship ranks, most notably Milos Pavlovic, who kick started his Draco Multiracing career at
Donington Park with his first podium of the season.
Sean McIntosh was also impressive around the British circuit as he becomes more notable in the upper echelons of the championship as the season continues, while Ben Hanley is keeping his foot in the door for a first win of the season, ensuring the end of the season remains as open as it was at the beginning.
An interesting side note though is that just six of the 15 teams will be fielding identical line-ups to those they competed with at the pre-season test around the French circuit.
On that occasion, it was Soucek who led the way – will he be able to capitalise on that and take a major step forward towards securing a surprise title in his rookie season..?
