Barcelona is a great circuit, an awesome circuit, and I definitely think we can get into the top ten there. I like to think that, in the Bahrain sprint race, I could have finished in the top ten had we not gone out, so I’m certainly looking for that sort of result.
Looking a little further ahead, I think Monaco is the one circuit every racing driver would like to do a lap around. I’m really looking forward to that a lot, especially as DPR has always had a decent track record there and has usually been quite quick. On top of that, I tend to do quite well at street circuits too.
Obviously, doing well in Monaco needs a little dose of luck, and I’m hoping I got my bad luck out of the way in Bahrain. However, Monaco is a place where you make your own luck as well – you’ve got to be careful and not make any stupid mistakes in practice or qualifying because that can really cost you a lot. One little mistake, where the car steps out a bit too much, can be game over. It’s certainly not a forgiving circuit, so it’s all about being smart.
Of course, there is only one GP2 race in Monaco, so I will certainly be staying on to watch the grand prix on the Sunday. I have a lot of sponsors coming down there to watch the race, so I’ve got some commitments there with them, but I will definitely be watching the
Formula 1 race too.
I’ll speak to you again soon,
Christian
