It was nice to get back into the groove in France, and now, in the second half of the season, we are going to some circuits that I feel that I know much better than some of those we have already raced on.
I've raced at
Silverstone, the Nurburgring, Spa and Monza, so I'm looking forward to this half of the season. I've done F
BMW and F3 in Britain, so I've been to Silverstone in both, and I'm hoping that we should be able to get a good result - and some good points – in what is, essentially, my home race.
I also got to know the Hungaroring during the break, albeit at the wheel of a Renault Clio! Pastor Maldonado and Jason Tahinci raced in the F3000 series there last month, and that will definitely be helpful to them as it is the same speed and using slicks and wings as well, but I think that anything is going to be of benefit if you haven't been there before. Even if all I could get my hands was a Clio, it was good just to get a feel for the circuit and see which way it goes. I think that any track time on a circuit you haven't been to before is going to beneficial.
I also did some commentating back in Denmark, for the Danish channel covering practice and qualifying at Canadian Grand Prix, and also on some of the DTM. That was good fun, but I'd definitely prefer to be behind a steering wheel than a microphone. It was interesting to see the other side of things, but it’s easier to be sitting there commenting on things - in the car they happen a lot faster!
Anyway, here’s hoping it’s me they’re talking about next time!
I’ll speak to you soon,
Christian
