The most important thing for us was to get out of the pit-stop still in first position which we did; after that the car felt better, it was much easier for me to control the race and I was able to build up a gap between me and Filippi. To win the race five seconds in front of Luca was really good.
It was very nice to win again, for me and for all the mechanics who have worked so hard. Obviously it came very late – it would have been better if it had been back at the beginning of the season – but at least we did it, and to do so in Spa was particularly pleasing. It was a good weekend for all the team.
Now we head to the final round of the season at Valencia this weekend, and above all we need to confirm we have found better pace in qualifying. Even if last year we fought our way through quite well during the two races, it’s still quite hard there because the track is so narrow and it’s very difficult to overtake. It’s very different to Spa, but we had a good test there in December last year and I had two good results there in 2006.
The first thing to do is have a good qualifying and then see what happens. I’m very confident for the races because I know the car will be good then, but in qualifying it will be very important for us to be at least in the top five if we want to win.
Both di Grassi and
Timo Glock will obviously be pushing a lot because they want the championship so it will be difficult, but I think we have shown everybody we can do it and if we can get another win that will be good for everybody.
A bientôt,
Nicolas
