Timo Glock carved his way through the field to claim his fourth win of the season in race two at Monza on Sunday, in the process extending his lead at the top of the championship.
In the end the iSport man took the win quite comfortably, controlling the second half of the race and eventually leading home Luca Filippi by just under 2 seconds.
Glock will now take an 11 point lead into the penultimate round of the season next weekend in Belgium, having increased his tally from 67 points to 78.
"We knew it would be quite difficult to be on the podium but we fight everytime until the last moment, and thats the reason why we are sometimes on the podium where some guys would not expect us to be and that's a positive thing about the whole team," said Glock.
Bruno Senna meanwhile took the final spot on the podium, 8.470 seconds off the winner.
The Brazilian had a great start and moved up from fifth on the grid to second at the first chicane, but didn't have the pace to go for the win. He was however still delighted with his podium finish.
It's good to be back on the podium! It's been a while and we had a bit of a struggle at some of the races. Right now I'm very satisfied that we can be competitive again, he noted.
It was a tough race because I touched with Luca [Filippi] on the second chicane and I had bent steering for the rest of the race, which wasn't easy! I was quick enough to fend off whoever was behind me though and we finished on the podium so I'm very happy. It's easy to say that we can build from here, but we have a lot of work to do to get the car competitive for Spa and Valencia, so we will continue to work hard and push.
Further down the order, Lucas di Grassi took fourth spot to ensure he remains in contention for the title.
He made a good start with the ART entry and kept out of trouble, gradually picking up places in what turned out to be a very entertaining and closely fought event.
