Hungary 2007: Villa makes it a hat-trick.

Sunday, 5th August 2007

Javi Villa claims Sunday hat-trick as title fight tightens.

The pair battled for seven laps before Glock ran wide at the same turn that had claimed his team-mate but, even though he rejoined, it was clear something was wrong with the iSport car. The German cruised along the pit-wall, but completed another lap before parking in front of the team garage. di Grassi, free from the pressure of either iSport car, consolidated in fourth, taking enough points to cut his deficit in the championship to just one.

Glock's exit had promoted Karun Chandhok into the points, but the Indian too was out of luck as his car quit with a lap to run, allowing Zuber back into the top six. Out front, however, it was a familiar story as Villa controlled the pace, keeping Carroll at arms' length, to claim his third sprint win in the last four meetings. Rodriguez dropped away from the leading pair after his clash with Zaugg, but had enough in hand over di Grassi to enable him to take a maiden GP2 podium.
