"As for the weather conditions, I don’t mind if the race is wet as it is the same for everybody. It can be a real lottery, but that’s part of racing too! It should be dry tomorrow morning for qualifying."
Filippi, more than most maybe, will be keen to secure a decent result this weekend, having seen potential podium finishes go begging in Dubai through no fault of his own. The Qi-Meritus driver currently languishes eighth overall in the standings after a no-score in race two, but has vowed to be back at the front in Indonesia.
"It was very disappointing to have encountered mechanical failure just when it looked like I was going to get a podium finish," he said of the sprint race in Dubai, "Although I had never previously raced in Dubai, I felt confident after the opening race and, despite being denied a podium finish there, I will go all out to be among the top three in the next four legs, starting with Sentul."
Missing from the chasing pack, however, will be Andy Soucek, the Spaniard replaced in the DPR line-up, as expected, by Diego Nunes, who transfers over from Campos in a reshuffle that could presage the summer series line-ups. Soucek has already confirmed that he is to join FMSI for the summer, with Nunes tipped to replace him at DPR. Hence it made sense for all concerned to move around, with Campos bringing in summer rookie Ben Henley for an early taste of GP2 competition.
"We are very happy with Nunes, who did nothing to be unworthy of the drive, but the possibility to switch arose and it has been possible to do it," team boss Adrian Campos said, "This way, we can start working with the drivers that we will have during the whole season."
Hanley himself said that he was pleased to get the chance to step up earlier than expected, although he admitted that missing the opening rounds in Dubai would put him at something of a disadvantage.
