At the start of race one my car felt great, and I could overtake a few of the others before the first corner. By the end of the lap I was right with my team-mate Romain Grosjean, and I feel that I could have gone past him pretty soon. But unfortunately my mate Mike stopped that, when again he pushed me off at last corner! I was up on two wheels and then turned completely around, so by the time I got back on the circuit I was completely last.
My team decided to call me in to make my pit-stop at that stage: I was last anyway, so maybe it would allow me to be in clear air and get by some of the other guys when they stopped. Unfortunately for me, the safety car came out at the same time because of Mike's car stopped on the front straight, and when I came out of the box the safety car wouldn't let me through because he thought I was the race leader! Eventually they waved me through, but it was too late and I got caught in the traffic.
But anyway the car felt great, and I finished in eleventh so I guess that was something. I was setting fast laps whenever I was in clean air, and I was the fastest guy on track at the end of the race, but at Barcelona, it is almost impossible to overtake anywhere except the first corner, and then mostly only if the guy in front makes a mistake. I think the race was as good as it could be for me, but it's just a shame that it was all spoiled at the beginning.
The next morning I was certain that I could bring back some points for the boys, to give them a reward for all of their hard work. The car still felt great, and I knew the speed was there, so I just needed to make a nice start and everything would be fine. And I did make a nice start, because by the end of the first lap I was between the Piquet drivers, Maldonado and Zuber in - I think - seventh position, but then all of a sudden the power just dropped and I knew the engine was gone.
