Crash.net preview - Spa-Francorchamps GP2.

Friday, 9th September 2005

The GP2 Series enters its final European phase this weekend with two races at the daunting Spa-Francorchamps circuit that could make or break the title challenges of the two men still in contention.

Further down the field, Belgium will witness another reshuffle of personnel, as Gimmi Bruni replaces Ferdinando Monfardini at Durango, his own place at Coloni having been filled by Finland's Toni Vilander last time around. Elsewhere, much is as it was for Monza, but the likes of DPR twins Olivier Pla and Giorgio Mondini, BCN's Ernesto Viso and DAMS' Jose Maria Lopez will all be hoping to put dismal Italian weekends behind them.

Of course, being Spa, the weather could play a vital role this weekend, with the circuit's own microclimate frequently producing widely different conditions at either end of the layout. As a result, the races could boil down to a test of teamwork as much as driver skill - and Arden would like nothing more than to be able to put one over on the ART squad which has stolen its thunder somewhat this season....
