Istanbul responds to criticism.

Officials from the Istanbul circuit have defended the venues safety measures following the incident during the Turkish Grand Prix weekend that saw a stray dog hit during the second GP2 race.

Whoa! It's even worse! Not only the organizers explain that there is little they can do about dogs circulating on the track in the future, but the stray dogs might carry rabies and other diseases. In conclusion, drivers might have an accident, and crews might be infected. Nice venue indeed!

They just need to have marshalls with guns. Then they can shoot the dog before it makes it to the track. Mexican police have been known to shoot a stray dog if it threatens to run infront of a peleton of cyclists during a race (while riding a motorcycle none the less). I have seen a deer on the track at Sears Point and it was really scary. Thankfully no one hit it as Chritiano DeMatta did at Road America.

True, something like that shouldn't have happened, but they are wild dogs (I assume) and can pretty much squeeze through a gap just as a rabbit et al could, so its very hard to forsee. Then again, I hope it doesn't happen again though.

I just found it odd how there were 2 dogs on the track at the same - were they released deliberately by a spectator trying to shake things up?? I probably just have my conspiracy theory hat on
