GP2 » Chandhok hails 'positive' season.

Thursday, 13th September 2007

Having had little time to adapt to GP2 machinery, Karun Chandhok is beginning to make up for lost time as the season edges into its closing stages.

Chandhok's defining moment this season however came in Turkey when he almost scored a surprise victory in the sprint race. Indeed, having started from pole position, Chandhok was able to keep Formula 1 test drivers Kazuki Nakajima and Timo Glock behind him for the race's majority, before he was then punted off by the former and into retirement.

Nonetheless, Chandhok sees that as an indicator of his potential if he is given the chance to put that into practice in the future.

"The race was frustrating, but the positive side was that I could maintain the pace. Nakajima, Glock and I were pulling away from everyone else and although we had a problem with the brakes, we were going well – at least before Kazuki biffed me off. I think we showed we had genuine pace though.”
