Timo Glock has vowed to stay out of trouble in the final race of the GP2 Series season after inching closer to the title with a seventh place finish in the feature race.
The German kept things calm during the feature race after chief rival Lucas di Grassi spun out after his pit-stop and was forced into retirement.
Although Glock didn't capitalise fully by taking an unassailable championship lead, two points were enough to eke his advantage out to four points with only a maximum of seven up for grabs in the sprint race.
Furthermore, Glock will start in second place, where as di Grassi will be down in 23rd, and with only a fourth place finish needed to guarantee the title anyway, the
BMW F1 test driver is very much the championship elect now.
Indeed, the iSport International driver admits he took a cautious approach to the feature race and plans to do exactly the same in the sprint event.
“I drove maybe 80 per cent today because we had a little bit of a problem with the downshifts today, and hopefully we'll get that sorted out for tomorrow because I think we know where the problem is, but we just want tomorrow a race with no problems. We'll just see how the start is going, and stay out of trouble: that's it.”
