Trident Racing has announced the signing of Mike Conway, who will compete with the team in the 2008 GP2 Series.
The Brit, who won the British Formula 3 and Formula Renault titles and who is apart of Honda's young driver development programme, will now be looking to build on his debut season in GP2, having finished it as one of the top rookies.
"It's great to have tied up my deal before Christmas and to be able to start the new year with all my plans in place, and to be joining Trident Racing for 2008," said Conway. "The team has a proven track record in GP2 and I believe we can be competing for podium finishes at every race weekend.
"Having completed my rookie season I have knowledge of all the tracks and the experience of racing at this level, which gives me the foundations to be competing at the front right from the start of the season.
"I believe Trident Racing will offer me the opportunities to achieve my goal of winning the 2008 GP2 Series.
"They have a high calibre team with the resources and experience to provide me with the infrastructure that I need to do the job on track. I'm looking forward to my first outing with the team in February, as well as getting to grips with the new GP2 car that we will be running there."
Team boss, Alessandro Alunni Bravi meanwhile is convinced that Conway can do well next season and build on the 19 points he notched up in his debut year.
"The arrival of Mike Conway represents a really special moment in the history of Trident Racing, and a starting point for the team's 2008 ambitions," he added. "He was definitely our first driver choice since the end of the season, and we did the best we could to secure his services.
"I have to thank Mike and his family, as well as Martin Brundle and
Mark Blundell's 2MB Sports Management for making the deal possible. We know that next season will be vital for Mike's bid to build a successful future in
Formula 1.
