Trident Racing has added a second driver to its main 2008 GP2 Series line-up, and completed its Asian partnership, by slotting improving Chinese driver Ho-Pin Tung
in alongside Mike Conway and Harald Schlegelmilch respectively.

Tung made his GP2 debut with BCN last season and, despite teething troubles, gradually got to grips with the step up from F3, where he graduated as German champion. He will link up with Trident for the new Asian series, which begins in Dubai on the final weekend of the month and continues through four further double-header meetings, before joining fellow second-year pilot Conway in the main 'summer' series.

“I'm really satisfied with the agreement we were able to reach with Ho-Pin Tung, and I think that this will be an important step forward for both parties," team principal Alessandro Alunni Bravi commented, "He'll defend Trident Racing's colours in both the Asia and the main series in an attempt to capitalise on his professional and human racing experience.

"He proved, since the first technical meetings, to have a deep knowledge of the car and to be very clear-headed about his ideal set-up choices. We were very impressed by his ability to analyse telemetry data, and that's definitely an important addition to his talent.

"Ho-Pin Tung is also a very important driver from an international point of view, since he'll be carrying the Chinese flag on track. He'll represent what is set to become the world's top auto market, serving as an endorser for an enthusiastic and developing motorsport nation. We're set to help him try to find a way to F1 as soon as possible.”

Tung will be partnered in the Asia Series by Latvian youngster Harald Schlegelmilch, who will then join Trident's new Formula Master team for the balance of 2008. The line-up, along with Conway, will be officially presented during a press conference planned for Tuesday 23 January.
