Andy Soucek will return to the David Price Racing line-up for the inaugural GP2 Asia Series, and is targeting success after ending the 2007 summer championship with a definite upturn in form.
The Spaniard joins Indian rookie Armaan Ebrahim at the team that took him to a brace of podium finishes in the waning rounds of the regular GP2 campaign, and heads to this month's Asian season-opener boosted by continued strong form in 'winter' testing, where he topped the timesheets at
Jerez.
“I'm really pleased to be racing with DPR this winter, as we built up a strong relationship during the 2007 season, with the rightful rewards of podium finishes towards the end of the series," Soucek commented, "My tests with the team post-season reinforced this as we ran strong in each of them. Now we need to carry this momentum through the winter series. We'll have some days testing in Dubai before the first race, so I can get back to peak form before the first race there at the end of the month.”
Team boss David Price also tipped his charge as a likely challenger for the Asian crown.
“I think Andy will be one of the frontrunners this winter," he insisted, "He was on top form at the end of last season and, with the experience of running with us throughout 2007, we have every chance of success.
"Armaan has experience of some of the tracks, which will benefit Andy, while Andy has the GP2 experience to help Armaan settle into the team. I'm confident we'll be one of the stand-out teams of this Asian Series.”
