Although Romain Grosjean secured a second win of the weekend in Dubai, Asian drivers were still represented on the podium for the second race of the new GP2 Asia season.

Super Nova racer Fairuz Fauzy, who inherited pole for race two after Sebastien Buemi was excluded from the results of race one, led for much of the race as Grosjean tried to battle his way through the field, but was unable to hold off the Frenchman and had to settle for second.

“I had a good start and got passed by Valles briefly,” the Malaysian driver said. “I led for most of the race until I was struggling with oversteer. I saw Romain catching up quickly and he passed me. I think that this is still a good result and I am now looking forward to Indonesia. ”

Indian racer Karun Chandhok completed the podium although it was a far from easy race for the iSport International man after a clutch issue dropped him down the order at the start.

From there he battled back into third place at the finish, and said he was confident of fighting for victory at the next round of the season in Indonesia.

“I had a clutch problem at the start and that's how I dropped from second to seventh,” he said. “It's a real shame and we have to analyse exactly what happened.

“We had a real good pace here and we could have hoped for a better result. In Indonesia, we should also be competitive and fight for the win.”
