Bruno Senna was left to reflect on an opportunity lost after a pit-stop error saw him excluded from the GP2 Asia feature race in Dubai.
The Brazilian made light work of getting ahead of title winner Romain Grosjean when the race kicked off and had opened a lead of more than ten seconds over the ART man before pitting to make his mandatory pitstop.
However, having requested that the left-hand side tyres were changed, an error meant on the rear left was changed against series regulations that state two tyres must be switched.
Although Senna pitted again for another change and returned to finish in ninth place, he was then excluded from the results, with his hopes of finishing second in the standings now lying in tatters.
I was never meant to win this championship, he said. In the pitstop I wanted my front left changing because I could see it was losing shape but the tyre wasn't ready as the team had planned to change both rears.
It's going to be hard tomorrow starting from the back so all I can do is try to do my best to finish the season in a positive way.
