Nunes lined up on the front row of the grid alongside Chandhok after his seventh place finish in the feature. With the Indian ahead, the group of regular frontrunners close behind and the pack charging down to the first corner, it was always going to be a fierce battle and inevitably there were winners and losers. Unfortunately, it was Nunes that lost out as, having survived the clash with Chandhok, he was spun round at the next corner and forced to return to the pits and retire.

“I was pushed off track by Chandhok in the run down to the first corner and had a fight to get through it, especially as he gave me so little room,” the Brazilian commented, “There was a lot of contact through the first few corners and then I was spun round. There was damage to my car and that was the end of my race.”
