Musical chairs start early, Carroll to return?

Nocera out, Valles moves, Carroll and Soucek return in round two reshuffle

Adam Carroll is poised to make another belated return to the GP2 Series, after being touted as the replacement for BCN-bound Adrian Valles at Fisichella Motorsport International.

Despite attempting to keep its line-up largely the same from race to race, the F1 support series will see a rash of changes when it ships up in Turkey this weekend, with Carroll joining Giancarlo Fisichella's squad in place of Valles who, in turn, joins BCN Competicion in place of Paolo Nocera. Andy Soucek, who continues to dispute the terms of his contract with FMSI, will also be back, replacing the injured Christian Bakkerud at Super Nova.

Carroll, of course, made a successful return to GP2 with FMSI in 2007, winning on only his second appearance with the team, on home soil, at Silverstone after a fruitless dabble in the DTM.

Nocera and BCN decided to end their relationship by mutual consent after just one round of the summer season, the Italian now looking elsewhere for employment in 2008, but Valles decision to join Enrique Scalabroni's team appears to be a strange one for a driver returning to GP2 after a year out. The Spaniard has shown glimpses of form in both the Asia Series and last month's Barcelona round - notably in qualifying - but now switches to the only team yet to win a race in the category. Incredibly, he becomes the first Spanish driver in the history of the Barcelona-based team as he slots in alongside Milos Pavlovic from this weekend's Istanbul round.

Soucek, meanwhile, has made a swift return to the fold after being dismissed by FMSI in favour of Roldan Rodriguez on the eve of his home round two weeks ago. The Spaniard had already opted to sit out the bulk of the Asia Series after agreeing terms to join the Italian team from DPR, so will arrive in Turkey a little ring rusty, if not a little determined to show just what he is capable of.
