Andy Soucek's nomadic GP2 Series existence will continue in Monaco this weekend, after the Spaniard agreed terms to return to David Price Racing.

Soucek began his GP2 career with the British team, but left after one round of the inaugural Asia Series in January when a deal to run with Fisichella Motor Sport International in the regular series caused a contract conflict. Ironically, the former Spanish F3 champion never got to consummate his relationship with the Italian outfit in competition, and now finds himself back at DPR via a one-off outing with Super Nova.

Again, however, there is no long-term security for Soucek, who showed good pace in Turkey but suffered the sort of luck reserved for the man he stood in for, Christian Bakkerud, in both races. He returns to DPR on a single race deal, replacing rookie Giacomo Ricci as replacement for the still-injured Michael Herck, who has not raced since the penultimate round of the Asia Series. Soucek will partner DPR regular Diego Nunes in Monaco.

“I'm looking forward to running with DPR in Monaco," the Spaniard said, "Thanks to my sponsors - Knight Frank, Interwetten, and L'Equip Asset Management, which is a new partner for me - I'm able to be on the grid and I'm hoping to bring them and DPR some good results. It's one of the most exciting, high-pressured, prestigious motor racing events and it's very special to be part of this."

Soucek enjoyed a fruitful end to his 2007 campaign with DPR, coming close to winning races for a team that had been firmly rooted towards the rear of the field at the start of the campaign. He also showed well on his single Asia Series outing with the squad, before sitting out the rest of the campaign in favour of his impending deal with FMSI. That contract was then torn up on the eve of the Barcelona season-opener, angering Soucek, who threatened legal action before embarking on his search for an alternative ride.
