David Price Racing celebrated their first point of the season in the GP2 sprint race at Monaco, Andy Soucek marking his one-off appearance with a sixth place finish.
Returning to the team he raced for last season, Soucek had a tricky start to the weekend but managed to ride through the carnage to end the feature race in 13th position.
However, the scramble at the first bend in the sprint race saw him leap up to seventh where he would proceed to bother Bruno Senna over the course of the 30-lap race. Although he failed to find a way past, the Spaniard was aided when Adrian Valles was given a drive-through penalty up ahead, thus enabling him to move into sixth.
Describing the point as ‘a relief', David Price Racing was not only pleased to get on the board, but to also record a double top ten finish after Diego Nunes battled his way up to ninth from 14th on the grid.
“It's a relief to have finally scored a point this season; Andy did a great job at the start to keep out of the first lap dramas and make up positions, then he was able to capitalise on another drivers' misfortune.
“Diego also had a strong run today; he didn't succumb to the pressure that was on him from Grosjean behind and is continuing to improve as he gains experience with this car. It's not an easy track to drive, but I think we've proved we have the car to match any other. We've had our first race this season with both cars finishing in the top ten, so we're pleased with that.”
With all teams having now scored at least one point, DPR are expected to welcome back Michael Herck for the next round at Magny-Cours.
