Alvaro Parente gets back on the podium and moves back up the championship order.

Alvaro Parente shrugged off an awful Turkish round to score a podium in the third round of the GP2 Series at Monaco.

A result that moves him back up to third in the standings, Parente recovered from a disappointing qualifying ahead of the feature race to battle his way up to fifth place at the finish.

From fourth on the grid, the Portuguese driver emerged from the first corner in third place, the position he would go on to hold for the remainder of the race as he pressured Ho-Pin Tung in second.

Although he could not force the Chinese driver into a mistake, Parente was pleased to score a solid double points finish for Super Nova Racing and will now head to the next round at Magny-Cours third in the standings.

“It was a simple race for me today. I gained a place at the start & then had to follow Trident's Chinese driver, which was a little frustrating. I just couldn't find the opportunity to chance overtaking, even though I knew I was quicker. Anyway it was a podium finish and some more points, which is great!”
