His success provided a second chance to sample
F1 power and, having taken part in several test days with the BMW-powered
Williams team in 2003-04, he was called up by the German manufacturer to try out for its official testing role, which he grasped with both hands. He will continue to provide back-up services to the Canadian Grand Prix winners while racing in GP2.

"With only one day of testing in the car, it's certainly going to be a challenge [at Magny-Cours], but I'll grab it with both hands and give my all. I'm itching to race."
Soucek, incidentally, looks set to race for his third team in as many races, having opened talks with BCN Competicion. Having competed on behalf of Super Nova and DPR in Turkey and Monaco, the Spaniard is conducting all of BCN's testing at Ricard this week, and hopes to sign a deal for the rest of the campaign
