Sunday, 22nd June 2008

Swiss star Sébastien Buemi has vaulted himself into championship contention, by leading home an Arden one-two in GP2's second race at Magny-Cours in France, mastering the tricky conditions to perfection.

Buemi, meanwhile, was pushing hard to get on terms with team-mate Buurman, finally catching and overtaking the Dutch ace on lap 21 after the pair had run wheel-to-wheel for half a lap until the hairpin.

Further back, Filippi was on a charge too, albeit with more traffic ahead of him, and with mechanical gremlins eventually putting paid to Parente's bid, the Italian was handed an overdue podium to kick-start his season.

Behind the ART Grand Prix front-runner, Lucas di Grassi's conservative approach paid dividends with fourth place, ahead of long-time race one leader Bruno Senna and Conway, while Kamui Kobayashi claimed the point for the race's fastest lap on the final tour.
