Ben Hanley's return to the GP2 Series is destined to be a brief one after Durango speculated that Davide Valsecchi will be back in the cockpit for the next round at Silverstone.

Having been dropped from the Campos team he started the year with, Hanley received a late call-up by Durango for the Magny-Cours event, where he proceeded to run comfortably in the mid-field and ahead of regular driver Alberto Valerio.

However, any hopes of a prolonged stint with the Italian team is likely to end before it has barely started after Durango admitted they are expecting Valsecchi to make his return from injury at the next round.

“For us this has been a very difficult weekend,” said Durango team manager Luca Zerbini. “Now we must carefully plan the next races in Silverstone where it's scheduled the coming back of Davide Valsecchi.”

The Italian has missed the last three rounds after injuring his back in a heavy shunt in Turkey, prompting Marcello Puglisi to deputise at Monaco and Hanley to race in Magny-Cours. It remains to be seen whether Hanley will be able to find another seat in time for his home race though.
