Kamui Kobayashi continued to dominate the first post-season GP2 test of 2008 at Paul Ricard as the Japanese driver bids to bring a difficult year to a satisfying climax.

Having also dominated proceedings on day one, the Toyota F1 test driver remained on track for DAMS to lower his best lap to 1min 12.828secs in the morning, just over two hundredths quicker than the competition.

Although a rain storm limited proceedings in the afternoon, Kobayashi remained the quickest driver, the Japanese driver leading a mixture of seasoned GP2 racers and a variety of newcomers.

In the morning, Kobayashi's closest competition came in the form of Andreas Zuber, who continued to test with Fisichella Motorsport, while recently confirmed Durango driver Davide Valsecchi moved up to third best.

Best of the newcomers in the morning, however, was Sam Bird, who continued to do a fine job in the second DAMS car, the Brit going fourth best before handing his car over to fellow F3 Euroseries driver James Jakes in the afternoon.

Rookie honours in the afternoon went the way of Formula Master champion-elect Chris van der Drift, who tested for Trident Racing. He was also fifth best in the morning, but found himself behind just reigning Formula Master Champion Jerome D'Ambrosio (Campos) and Luca Filippi (DPR) in the afternoon.

Elsewhere, other impressive newcomers included Euroseries 3000 leader Fabio Onidi, who tested with Piquet Sports and went seventh best in the morning, while Oliver Turvey switched from ART to iSport for today to go 11th fastest.

Narain Karthikeyan continued his steady trajectory up the order after a slow start yesterday, finishing the afternoon session in eighth for Trident Racing, just one position behind Arden's Koudai Tsukakoshi.
