Kamui Kobayashi has continued his domination of the GP2 off-season after leading the second day of testing ahead of the opening rounds of the Asia Series campaign at Shanghai.

The DAMS driver, who paced both days of regular series testing at Paul Ricard and was fastest again on day one at the Chinese circuit, led the way in both the morning and afternoon sessions, despite completing fewer laps than a number of drivers on track.

The Toyota test driver was the only man to beat the 1min 46sec mark during the morning running, with his lap of 1min 45.871secs putting him two-tenths of a second clear of countryman Sakon Yamamoto. Roldan Rodriquez continued his solid form by going third for Piquet Sports – albeit three-tenths further back – with Sergio Perez, Giedo Van der Garde and Javier Villa rounding out the top six.

Kobayashi went quicker in the afternoon as he brought his best time by some six-tenths of a second. Such was his pace, that six-tenths of a second was also the gap to second placed Rodriquez who only just beat Kobayashi's morning time and was the only other driver in the 1min 45secs.

After mechanical problems in the morning, Davide Valsecchi was third quickest for Durango ahead of the second DAMS car in the hands of Jerome D'Ambrosio. Van der Garde and Villa again completed the top six.
