Wayne Taylor Racing run team prepares for latest Dallara run.

Twelve months after heading to Laguna Seca as points leaders and defending race winners, the SunTrust Racing team will look to get its 2008 Grand Am Rolex Series campaign back on track this weekend on its return to the Californian circuit.

Max Angelelli and Michael Valiante will continue at the wheel of the new #10 Pontiac Dallara looking to build on the pace shown by the car so far, which hasn't yet been translated into on-track results.

Despite qualifying on the front row twice in the last three races, the pair find themselves down outside the top ten in the championship standings after a series on incidents in recent races with team boss Wayne Taylor admitting that the focus now is on winning races to try and close the gap to its rivals.

“We're extremely excited about going out to Laguna,” he said. “The guys are more motivated than ever. Clearly, our focus is what it always is and that is to go and win races. Everybody is in that mode and everybody is excited. We've done a little bit of testing between the last race and now. We just can't wait to get there.”

Despite the issues on track, the team remains determined to try and stay in contention for the title, but with some of the leading teams in the series currently heading the standings, Angelelli admitted it will be a tough call with ten races still to run.

“As far as I'm concerned, the championship looks more difficult than ever because we're talking about trying to catch a team like Ganassi,” he said. “If it was any other team, I'd say perhaps it would still be very possible. I do have to say that, in racing, nothing is impossible. So I still have to have some hope that we can still be fighting for the championship at some point.”
