Grand Am has announced a 13 race calendar for the 2009 Rolex Series season, including a new endurance race and a new home for the season finale.

The new campaign will see each event on the calendar be a combined event for both the Daytona Prototype and the GT classes, while each of the 2008 venues will return with the exception of Infineon Raceway. Of the 13 races featured on the calendar, three will be endurance races while the remaining ten will be sprint events of roughly 250 miles. The Rolex Series will run with the NASCAR Sprint Cup on two occasions during the new season.

The season will begin and end in Florida, with the Rolex 24 at Daytona once again retaining its position as the opening event of the season in late January. The season finale will be held in October at Homestead-Miami Speedway in a race weekend that will also feature the final rounds of the IndyCar Series campaign.

Competitors will return once again to Mexico City, where the Rolex Series will run as the feature event at historic Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. The date is yet to be determined, with the distance tentatively set at 1,000 kilometers or six hours. The other major alterations to the schedule are moving the New Jersey Motorsports Park event from Labour Day to May 3, and changing the race at Miller Motorsports Park from seven hours to 250 miles.

Following the Mexico City race, the Rolex Series returns to Virginia International for the Bosch Engineering 250, scheduled for the weekend of April 25-26, then travels to New Jersey for the Supercar Life 250 on May 3 at Thunderbolt Raceway in the only back-to-back weekends on the schedule.

The series travels to California for the May 17 event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca while the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen will be Saturday 6 June at Watkins Glen International and will be followed by the EMCO Gears Classic on June 20 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
