But risks? Talk to some Irish Road Racers, guys like Bruce Anstee, Cameron Donald or Ian Hutchinson. They will tell you what taking risks is all about.
Well said Cubik. Lewis is far from the first high earner in the UK to move to a tax heaven. They are ALL at it. And you would too Ralf if you were making that kind of money...
@Ben, I don't doubt what MS does for charity. But I think you will find a lot of rich and famous do the same, it's just not well publicized. Probably for good reasons.
... and will compete to the bitter end, manufactures are there purely for business reasons and will stop without a second thought. F1 is becoming way to corporate and clinical, and it's not healthy.

This is a bad situation IMO. F1 needs privateers, and something needs to be changed when it''s next to impossible to enter. I think customer cars are a must. There seems to be no issues with it in MotoGP, for example. As is to common in F1 there are too many people just how to look after themselves and not stopping to consider the future of the sport... There is no passion with manufactures with the exception of Ferrari. There is nothing to get behind with these corporations, no feeling. And what happens when they get bored and stop seeing a return for their investment?
While privateers exist becuase of a passion for the sport...

"Now we find out what JL is made of. If he can still ride a monster bike carrying injury."
surely that depends more on the severity on the injury that what the rider is "made of". for example no rider is going to riding the bike with two broken ankles.
When did Piquet last watch an IRL race... Around half the caladener is made of circuits and street circuits.
However he probably has a point that as talented as Patrick is she probably is not quite good enough to race in F1. Although she would bring so much publicity I wouldn't be surprised if someone signs her. I still think Rahal has the most potential though.
At the end of the day IRL is a national series, albeit a large nation that attracts drivers from all over the world, but there is obviously more competition when you move into the world stage, and your up against a much larger pool of drivers from many different series.

"How will the rule makers and tyre manufacturers feel if and or when that rule cost's someones life."
In a modern F1 car, highly unlikely. F1 is probably one of the safest motorsports in the world. And if it did happen, well it's motorsport there will always be an element of danger. If you don't like it get out.
Clearly F1 drivers and many fans have no idea how easy they have it

Now thats dangerous, running with cold tyres isn't really
I think they should allowed anything from 1 to 3 or 4 cars. Allowing 1 car would help a lot teams enter the sport at a lower cost. Perhaps even low different sponsors for each car, again to help teams on a low budget and new teams enter the sport. I'd imagine you would get more money for two separate sponsors or get more companies interested in the lower cost of sponsoring a single car only.
"Let's see where he's going to be in two hours' time."
How about in a few years time. He is not going to prove himself in one race. With or without Alonso I think the Ferrari would have always had a better can than McLaren this year. There was no way last years farce was not going to effect the team.
At the same time of course they are going to suffer without an experienced driver, that is something that can only come with time.
To be fair most drivers grab any F1 seat they can find, then wonder why it all goes tits up when they choose a crap drive. Despit being mainly a national series, running in Nascar or IRL is probably just as big for an American as F1 is here. So while it might be hard for them to accept many would do well to take a testing role for a year. That would enable them to get experience at the tracks, of the car and hopeully land a better drive than they would jumping straight into a race seat.
"And it shows that he blows as a driver saying that he is only in the third tier of NASCAR instead of in the top tier. I think Marco is a much better driver than Scott Speed will ever be"
Both Montoya and Franchitti had their first stock races in ARCA. Despite what many here beleive Stock Racing is not easy and you can't just jump in at the deep end with no experience.
As for Marco, I dunno if he would make a could F1 driver or not, I think Rahal would be a better option. But it's hard to tell without sticking them in an F1 car to find out.
