Jack Mordino, Kawi does not have any wins in MotoGP since entering it in 03. They do have a couple seconds and thirds. Kawi has won a lot of races in AMA supersport (600) and superbike (750/1000), as well as a few in WSBK.
Kawi just doesn't spend as much money as everyone else. KHI, the parent company, is massive, but the bike division is just a small piece.
When the spec tire rules first came into effect, I thought it was a bad idea. However, after watching a couple years of wsbk now, it certainly does seem to be good for the racing. We have closer races now which is great.
Mullet, some points. First off, I don't think Nicky is one of the top 3-4 riders in the world, but he certainly deserves to be in MotoGP. He's won a title, fair and square, regardless of what people say about Rossi's poor season.
-Nicky couldn't really develop the bike much when dani was hurt because the major design of the bike was already done. at that point it's mostly doing small tweaks. The year Nicky got to do major development work before the season, 2006, he won the title.
Nicky didn't complain about the engine so much, he complained about the combo of the 2008 frame with the 2007 engine. Since he got the 08 engine in 08 frame, he's been fast, he's just had mechanical failures.
"you have some technology connection with great Suzuki" Huh? Are you refering to the partnership Kawi and Suzuki had a few years ago on their DIRTBIKE and ATV lines? That never included streetbikes, and it disolved a couple years ago already.
I am really suprised by the complete lack of pace on the Kawi's. I know it's not a full factory effort, but the "privateer" team is beating the "factory supported" team. Either way, they are horribly slow.
Oh well, they'll be fast in AMA, and hopefully quick in MotoGP too.
Why oh why would they not keep the Canadian rounds. haven't those been some of the most profitable rounds of all? I know I've gone to the Toronto round several times and it's always packed.
I sort of lost interest in american open wheel after CART broke up into IRL and what is now Champ car. IRL never appealed to me because it's basically just ovals. Champ cars production quality and driver lineup suffered. Having a mix of 2/3 road courses and 1/3 ovals would be ideal for me, but I know that won't happen if the IRL is dominant in this merger.
I like the look. Regarding the green, I hated the dark green. Kawi race teams should be Kawi lime green. That dark green is similar to the green on the ZX-9R and 12R from a few years ago, looked good on them, but for race bikes, lime please!
Pretty cool when you can find a sponsor with the same colour scheme as you. The Monster Kawi bike in AMA superbike looked good last year, so I''m sure these will look good too.
