Piquet Jr needs to up the ante a little although I think that he is also operating under team orders within the Renault camp. No way could I see him challenging Alonso anyway.
They look in very good shape but we all knew that they were going to be up there this season based on their continuous development over the past two seasons. In Theissen, they have a very shrewd leader, efficient team, BMW Power, a great chassis and two solid drivers (although I think Heidfeld has a tough task to contain the lightning pace of his teammate and could feel the heat if he is constantly outperformed.)
They have some way to go though to achieve consistency in race pace although quick over a single lap.
Saying that, the Constructor''s table doesn''t lie. From a neutral perspective, lets hope it continues throughout the season.
Firstly...Well done Felipe Massa! Solid drive, a masterclass and well deserved after all the flak taken fom those armchair drivers.
Secondly...Alonso brake test??? 110% Lewis Hamilton's fault i think. He messed up the start in his own admission and had a racing accident with Alonso due to his relative inexperience racing in the midfield.
The guy has made his assessment of the weekend and it wasn't to plan. LH knows he was responsible and i am glad that he is pointing fingers only at himself.
I now am interested to see how LH responds to this dip in form. I believe like all good sportsmen, the response will be emphatic and the solid consistent drives will come back.
He has out qualified Lewis Hamilton once guys....big deal! It will happen again.
HK was very disappointing in Malaysia, pace was slow and but for a damaged air gun, would have been comprehensively behind Lewis. That is a fact and if you saw the race it would be obvious.
He will win this year, and was robbed of second place in Aus by the SC, but realistically I don't see him as a better driver than his teammate.

Actually if you are living in Britain, the F1 coverage is awesome by comparison regardless. I am a UK expat who has had to endure Chinese language broadcasts on CCTV for the last few years.
Let me give you an example of the rubbish I had to listen to on Sunday translated from Chinese on CCTV.
"Kubica, he has a huge forehead...it looks like he is going bald very early."
"Kimi, he looks so handsome in his Ferrari overalls"
Pits to car Radio...everytime translated "keep going faster".
ESPN's English global coverage is even worse than CCTV's.
Great result for Kimi confirming the obvious that Ferrari will be very quick this season.
Always an uphill task for the McLaren pair who were well off the pace throughout with Hamilton unable to get past to Webber for an eternity and an awful pit stop which undoubtably cost Hamilton a podium. Also HK despite 3rd looks very average.
Poor show from McLaren this weekend although the start of Hamilton was probably the bright spot on what was a rather boring race to watch.
Kimi made it look so simple and but for Massa's indiscretion, it was a nice little demonstration of Ferrari prowess.
Great performance from Button although it is only practice. I''m sure he''ll bring it home in the points this weekend and will stain every sinew to get maximum potential out of that car.
I add that of all spinners on that occasion at the Nurburgring Hamilton, unlike Sutil, Liuzzi and of course Jenson Button was the only competitor to have kept his engine running and was therefore well within his rights to get put back on the road, although I do have to say I questioned it at the time. Bringing up such a futile critisism is a cheap.
