I like Dovizioso a lot. He has a great deal of talent, he likes to fight and is a good character but he may slightly lack the ruthless attitude the guys who dominate seem to have. Next year will be the most important year in his career. He won't be rookie anymore and if he doesn't manage to be competitive for the championship it might take him to a downspiral confidence loop.
I agree with Peter00. It's a matter of balance: The problmem with him isn't that he is against Rossi fans: it is that he is commenting almost entirely against Rossi fans in the most offensive way that crash.net allows him. Causing attention in such a way is no smart thing. Any fool could dance naked in front of the parliament and get attention but this wouldn't prove his intelligence.
Burgess is right, TC is there as an additional set-up parameter although it definitely shifts the competition bias more to the technology side of things than the rider. A rider still has to ride the bike but a TC that doesn't help him preserve his tyres or have a good feel for the bike will immediately put him at a serious disadvantage.
kill-marty at least until Marty actually does post something please don't take this "preliminary barrage" posting action. It degrades you below even his own level and I'm sure you're smarter than that.
buckladj- Rossi doesn't need to score more victories than Nieto or Agostini to prove he is one of the greatest. He has proven that already, having scored more podiums in the premier category than any other rider and more so in the ultra-competitive later half of post-70's.
What he is on to prove now is that he is the greatest EVER. I wish him all the luck in the world.
Both races were fantastic, I was sitting at the edge of my seat, laughing to myself at the action. This is exactly what motorcycle racing is all about: Smoking bikes, rubbed fairings, and last corner heroic antics. MotoGP beware...
Of course Ducati has the advantage with 1200cc because an overbored V-2 offers about the same power as the IL-4 but better traction due to the known power pulse theory and mucho importante, a very fat midrange with which to get out much faster from turns.
The whole idea of "make 150 bikes, sell them to your relatives and friends and you've got homologation" is what brings problems to WSBK. Why don't Ducati just race their normal 1098 road bike? This whole thing "yes you are allowed 200cc advantage but don't get too far ahead because I'll spank you" is getting ridiculous. Everyone should be at the same capacity and figure out afterwards how many cylinders and what configuration to run.
Dray, tell us, which TV network broadcasts the MotoGP races? I'm asking that because I know over there in the US the really big money is already invested in dirt bikes and other sports, so MotoGP might be seen as an "intrusion" to the big interests.
Talking about tyres, having a single manufacturer would boost spectacle a lot as it has been shown with WSBK. The problem is none of them is willing to provide for the whole field, which was shown last year when the "control tyre" rule was proposed.
The level of discussion is very good except when certain individuals with inverted digestive direction try to solve their existential problems by insulting everyone else around here and causing constant controversy and flaming.
Typical teenage behaviour, I wouldn't wonder if I heard they aren't more than 15 years old.
For the last few days that they didn't dare say anything (because of certain race results) we had a very good discussion.
Don't get fooled gentlemen, coming 4th while having sustained such injuries only two days ago means full ability to fight for the win in two weeks time. Lorenzo is an iron-eater as he proved. Unless Casey is right and is all a mockery, a head game to make the others wonder, although I strongly doubt it.
