Its sad, but i think it would be for the best if Super Aguri dont race this weekend - if money is so limited, they havent done any testing at Barcelona so they will just be road blocks slower by 6 tenths of a second more than usual. Other teams will have their cars set up to run perfectly.
Robsy, we need somebody to fixe James Allen FULL STOP. Everything about him is wrong.
One thing i remember him saying in 2006 was how he loved Alonso, his style, his attitude and all that but then in 2007, he speaks of Alonso like trash now that his new flavour of the month is racing.
Hes always been "the best mate" and "great friends" with whoever is leading the title. It infuriates me!
(If anybody has seen Death Race 2000, then they will know what i mean - he is exactly like the woman that commentates on the race!)
Demon, the Button incident cant EVER be classed as "good blocking"
What happened to the old driver agreement of not moving in the braking zone? Jenson was committed and into the braking zone, THEN DC moved across. I class that as a racing incident, but it could have been avoided.
Oh, i just checked out Kimis comparison to Massa in the past 10 races.
Kimi is AHEAD by 32 points.
So Kimi is beating Massa by 3.2 points a race in the past 10 races. I wouldnt include anything before the past 10 as Kimi was still in a "getting to know you" phase with the team.
However, to lay the facts out like that is a bit biased. Massa had suspension failure in Monza 07, and he let Kimi by in Brazil 07. Still, that would only adjust by around 8 points, so Kimi would still be up 24...
Numb Nuts, i guess by your 6 wins in a row statement you are talking 2002?
That year Ferrari blew everybody away, 15/17 wins or similar wasnt it? You cant compare 2002 and 2007! Mclaren had the edge by a slim margin, and Ferrari were lucky to get 6 race wins over the season (it was actually 7 wins wasnt it?)
You comparison is like saying "Well how come Alonso and Hamilton didnt win all but one race last year, because Senna and Prost managed it in 1988"
The competition is different, and you cant compare Kimi on his FIRST season. He had to learn the car, learn the team, learn the tyres.
How about we compare Schu 1997 and Kimi 2007? I think thats the most balanced comparison.
I agree that the penalty was completely stupid, and im of the opinion that Fernando should have been given a penalty for deliberate blocking (repeating his move of at the same track a year earlier) and the Mclaren shouldnt have been given it.
Why should Mclaren have been penalised for ONE of their drivers doing something wrong? If Kubica did that to Nick Heidfeld next Saturday, i would hope that he got penalised points.
The simple fact is, it was a big decision and for the benefit of the title race, Mclaren, not Fernando, had to be punished.
But anyway, thats just my view, and 2007 is the past! Moving on...
Yamaha, if he was good at his job then we would support him. The fact is, he has many so many crap rules and then backtracked them or ignored what the fans really want. As head of the FIA, he should force things through and tell the teams to get on with it. We want overtaking, and have been saying it for years, so why is nothing being done? We didnt want the end of slicks at the end of 1998 but it happened. 10 years later and we are about to backtrack. We dont want 2.4 litre V6's, we miss the screaming V12's and the huge variety of engine that we had in the 80s and early 90's.
Had the BMW taken the lead in the first corner, they still wouldnt have won, but it would have been a damn sight closer. I think thats their best bet for a win.
