That is funny Alfonz because Briatore was his manager when he signed for McClaren. If Flav knew he was signing with McClaren or helped with the deal then he probably would not still be at Renault. It always did seem like a conflict of interest so perhaps it was a good thing for him to leave at that time. I think you are correct that is was not about the money (although your last sentence contradicts this). He knew that Renault were not going to be able to give a car capable of winning three in a row.
I think most people will agree that while Alonso is no Senna he also is much better than Fisi or Webber. With a rookie team mate it is hard to know how quick the Renault really is. They do seem more competive than last year with Fisi.
A few months ago people were on about Button's smooth driving style and that he would shine in this era of no traction control. He still does not have a car capable of showing this. Does that mean that he is just an average driver? We know that Ruebens can be very quick as he beat Schu on occasion. Did that change or is it just the car?
I would be surprised if anyone truly thinks that Alonso is not one of the top three or four current drivers.
Pagoda - I am not a FA fan but your comparison is not fair. In 1993 Senna's Mclaren was arguably the second or third fastest car that year. Some of Senna's wins in 1993 were due to attrition in front of him. I don't know that Renault is even the fourth quickest this year.
I don't know if I am buying the line that Bridgestone made Hamilton take three stops. I could believe that they may have told him to do a short run on the soft tires. He was pretty close to the end of his stint when he passed Massa so the hard tires must have been holding up pretty well. It seems they took a gamble strategy wise by playing it safe with the three stop. Memories of China 2007?
It does seem a bit unfair that the drivers who score more points are forced to pay more. While I am sure that they earn more is it really fair? This may be more of an issue than being too busy. If they are too busy they should be able to send a representative to the meetings in their place.
In any case it is still a personal decision. They are already required to go to pre-race drivers meetings. Safety is really the responsiblity of the circuit and the officials. Drivers will have valid opinions but they are not engineers so they may not necessarily make the correct recommendations.
He is looking good. The good thing about the concussion is that he may not remember the crash. I hope he does well this weekend and for the rest of the season.
Adrian, your are correct about two of those finishes. He actually sat out the next race and finished 7th in his third race back. I am not sure why I remembered it differently. I may have confused him with someone else or just had bad recollection.
andy there is a fine line between tough man and being stupid. I think that the force in an auto accident is considerably greater than a get off on a bike. I doubt that even the heaviest bike accident is greater than 10g's. You are comparing apples and oranges or in this case melons.
Lex are we to believe that Senna was not the team leader when Michael Andretti was his team mate? Do you really think that Mika was not the leader when DC was there? I would bet that these two would say otherwise.
yamaha r1 - you are correct that SA were in trouble already. Assuming the deal with magma was real and not a ploy by Fry to break SA, it did not fall apart until after Max's scandal broke. Remember he was asked not to attend the GP in Bahrain. That part of the world is much more conservative than the west. It may have been the straw that broke the camels back. I too am biker, although I prefer the dirt.
Since you appear to detest F1 so much you should be cheering its demise.
BTW what is a plank? We don't use that one on this side of the pond.

You are correct robert it was not a tough read. You have to admit it was a bit of a strange anology. I hope that he was not implying that he is like Mandela. If he was then he really does need to be brought back down to earth. This seasons reality check is probably the best thing for his development as a potential contender.
@yamaha r1 - Considering the amount you have posted in support of Mosley during his scandal this is a bit rich coming from you. SA may have been able to attrack the required sponsors if this scandal had not happened or if Max had been man enough to step down. The true cost to the series as a direct result of Max's deviant behavior is still unknown. They may need to scrap Q1 next year if they loose any more teams.
