Im not saying brands is a crappy "club racing" track, its definitly a diffrent cind of circuit. But compared to italian, spanish or japanese standards its somewhat below par. Small and big bumps everywhere, bad drainage, lack of run off areas etc. And therefore i think the locals, and by locals i mean the british who are used to racing on similar tracks around the UK, have an edge on the rest. It must be a new expirience for riders like checa, biaggi, nieto etc. to race on that cind of rolercoaster circuits. i'll be seriously impressed if byrne and the rest delivers the same resaults on tracks like losail, which i know aint going to happen.
To put it in perspective. I have no doubt if the local motorcycle racers in Norway(were im from) easily could keep up with the likes of, biaggi, haga etc. if the race were on a local norwegian circuit. Not because the norwegian pilots are insanly talented, but because they know the crappy circuits we have like the back of their pocket. Hell, i would even place my money on a local to take the double. It would probably be the easiest money i have ever earned. Nothing would make me happier than if Sykes, haslam, shakey and the rest could prove me wrong. But i wouldent get my hopes up Sorry for the bad writing, english isnt my native language. Part3/3
And thers no doubt they have an huge advantage when given wildcard rides on british tracks like brands. Circuts they know every square inch of tarmac on, and if even if you wont admit it yourself, this isnt exactly first class circuits. And that it rains from thursday to sunday when race weekend comes dont make it any easier. It may take years to learn the track due to the lack of dry time you get to spend. WSBK, motogp and the rest of the international race series only visits these circuts once a year, not a billion times a month like BSB and the rest of the british race series do. Part2
Okey, they might be slightly competitive on unfamiliar ground like portimao. Personally i belive the resaults they got was down to almost no dry track time at all, and the fact that portimao was unknown to everyone. Its a well known fact that wet conditions changes everyting. Even xaus became competitive on the wet in motogp, which says it all. Part1
You brits sure make me laugh. Shakey, haslam, sykes and the rest of the overrated british "super talents". Its better to be a big fish in a small pond, lets see how they do when released in a big pond. Haga, biaggi, corser, checa and naukirchner are going to eat them alive. 2009 Bring it on!! Muhahaha.
Oh ok. You are one of the hardcore rossi fanboys i guess. And comparing motogp laptimes to superbike laptimes is simply idiotic, because motogp racers are full prototype racers and sbk are based on production motorcycles. Thats like comparing motogp laptimes to f1, and you will see a pattern.
I remeber to have read that you can buy a tenkate honda for around 70 000.-euros, try offering that ammount of money for a motogp bike and you might get a front fork.
And for comparising, rossi crashed out of his two first motogp/500 races. And his first finishing resault was a patethic 11th place. So according to you, spies must be a supertalent.
Saran Dorairaj On a good day, Biaggi, Bayliss, Vermulen, Hayden, Edwarts and probably a couple of two or more. And thats just the ones that have already beaten rossi, and im sure great talents like Kiyonari and maybe even Spies can go all the way on a really really good day.
Even if hayden have been unfairly treated by honda, he has still been on the second best honda and have still failed to deliver miserably. No excuses, and that you blame pedrosa for haydens bad performence only shows your lack of knowledge. Hayden digged his own grave when he decided to use the 07 bike at the start of the season. Its basic knowledge that you some times have to take a couple of steps backwards to continue the development of a new bike. And if a factory rider makes a rookie mistake at that calibre, he dont have a future in a factory team. Pedrosa trusted HRC with the 08 bike, and got rewarded with renewed confidence, fair and square.
It would have been intresting to know exactly what ruben said, but letting it out on biaggi is totally inappropriate and unprofessional behavior by Ruben. I had little respect for the man before, but now he officially have lost all credability. I feel sorry for the man that gets teamed up with him next year on the BMW.
