With the Aprilia V4 coming as well, the WSB looks promising... When will Ducati homologate its D16 ?

Things are looking up for WSBK!! Now, if we can only get MV Agusta to up their game...

plus KTM showing up to play in the next couple of years, things are definately looking up for WSB. i don't think you can compare this to the foggy petronas effort though, as BMW have been putting plenty of effort into the endurance side of things with the boxer, so the new superbike'll have plenty of backing.
would you put an underdeveloped bike into a world championship when the reputation and sales of your company are at stake? the germans aren't egomaniacs like a certain over-opinionated 4xWSB cahmpion and will use their heads in testing and competition.
erm Richard, he was referring to the Petronas backed BMW Sauber ... U kno the one in that form of racing where the big boss plays nazi games with prostitutes ...
But must agree ... with BMW, KTM, Aprilia & maybe a decent MV effort, WSBK is looking fantastic for the future!
BTW, checked & it seems the public version of the BMW is only going to be around in 2010. They are going full WSBK in 2009 then the road version, unlike KTM who are doing STK1000, then developing the WSBK bike.

With the new additional teams there will be 8 full factory teams on the grid between now and 2010. Thats 16 full factory works bikes with factory riders. And you thought the 2009 grid with 32+ riders was impressive. I would agree the future looks very bright for WSBK.
MotoGP needs to get their act together quickly and expand on their pitiful 18 rider grid or WSBK is going to surpass them as the premier road racing series.

Honda Ducati Yamaha Suzuki Kawasaki BMW KTM Aprilia MVAgusta future and 9 factories! + if Triumph or Bimota join this too than... there's no too much space for satelit teams!;P we can only wait until they'll bring back 750cc class...even just for satelite teams Suzuki and Ducati already have bikes suited for that.

Dice - my bad, i misread it! and a major lack of knowledge/caring for formula scalextric meant that i got my wires crossed big time!
the future's definately looking bright for WSB, let's hope it'll be felt on the domestic scene too.
@ Dice The road version cant go on sale after they enter SBK, the rules say that the bike needs to be on sale to the public and at least 125 bikes be ready before the homologation inspection, 500 bikes be ready by the end of September and 1000 bikes (3000 from 2010) be ready by the end of December.
The bike must be on sale and homologated by 31st of January 2009 to be able to race in the first race of 2009
Yeah, sure Chris S!! Just ask Foggy about the homologation rules. Just how many Petronas street bikes were sold, anyway? Has anyone ever seen one with a license plate screwed on the back of it???

different rules back then. Foggy Petronas had to make 150 bikes (75 by January, other 75 by July) to pass homologation, and they did. 50 were kept for racing, 100 were put for sale.
BMW will make 1000 bikes by the end of 2009. they said it themselves ;)
