Targa: Privateer tied for lead with Aussie legend.

It was a case of a rallying legend battling a lone star on the first day of the fifteenth annual Targa Tasmania tarmac rally, when seven-times Bathurst champion Jim Richards and 2005 Australian Rally Privateers' Champion Steve Glenney set equal outright times in the opening leg.

I would like to congratulate HLCA (home loan center australia) racing & all involved in Targa Tasmania 2008.
It is so fantastic to see Steve and Bernie leading at day 3 in their David Bourke prepared Mitsubishi Evo 9. I am so proud of this team, as everyone has worked so hard & its really great to see Steve on top of the leader board, which is fantastic as always finishing Targa is a real challenge on its own. Congratulations to their very newly built Lancia Integrale finishing the Rookie Rallye 6th.
This event in past years for HLCA has been quiet unlucky on day 2 for the past 2 years with Allen Simonsen slipping off the road in particular last year in this car while leading the event
