Teixeira: Customer cars killed A1 dream.

Tony Teixiera, the chairman of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, has revealed that the decision to ban customer cars was the reason behind his decision not to go ahead with the purchase of a Formula 1 team.

something funny here. crash quote teixeira as talking to dietrich AFTER announcement by RBR that they were selling STR as "customer cars were not allowed." Now teixeira says that he pulled out of talks "as customer cars were not allowed." why then would he have even BEGUN negotiations when he already knew BEFOREHAND that customer cars were banned This appears to be posturing by teixeira, to promote his own series that he touted as a RIVAL to F1. anyway, he will have ferraris next year, so why even bother? A1 is not really much of a success. a queue of similar cars parading around with unknown (in the main) drivers.

All I see is more money for Ferrari, more funds to fuel their F1 efforts and remain even further ahead of the field. McLaren, Renault and BMW must be very anxious about the future.

This whole Concorde agreement BS has really messed up things in F1. Who in their right mind would even consider purchasing or investing in an F1 team with such an uncertain future. Dietrich recently said he wants 4 cars per team wich is alright for him to say because he has the bucks but with the likes of Super Aguri struggling to get to every race and the door pretty much closed for any new players in the foreseable future it may well be the case to get enough cars on the grid. It's really becoming a sport for the SUPER wealthy wich is really narrowing down the players who can meet the requirements to race.Max & FIA have really failed on this one and hopefully the next boss will fix things.
