Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner led one free practice session each during the opening day of the Chinese Grand Prix at Shanghai, with the Italian's morning time proving to be the best lap of the day.
Hoping for an all wet or all dry race!! Looks like its shaping up to be a great race!!
Go Rossi!!!!!

You have to admit, Rossi is still The Man. First practice and he's 0.0049seconds off (Stoner's) lap record set on lap 15 of last year's race. And he did a lot of consecutively fast laps. Stoner is back in the frame, and wet or dry, these two look like being the front-runners. That said, got to (finally) admit that Hopkins has a big ticker. The Kawasaki ain't no angel, yet he's got it up there. Used to think he was just a dumb Yank who had fallen into the fishing tackle box. Now he's thrown away the face metal, he actually looks like a man, not a moron, and his efforts have to be applauded. OK you Euro nuts, what's your excuse for Melandri this week? Missing his mum? Pasta not cooked?

CORRECTION: Make that 0.049 of a second off the lap record. Too many zeros - although that's not something the Japanese would have complained about...
The race is what counts gentlemen, lets see what happens in the race.
I don't care that much who wins as long as the winner on the podium is red with sweat, adrenaline and testosterone after an epic battle with his adversary (or even better adversarIES). I've missed last turn hot action so much...
hey Jack if its last turn hot action you crave you should tune in to World Superbikes there is usually more action than you can shake a stick at !!!

Dan, oh Dan ... the Assen WSS race was THE best race of ANY sort I have seen in the past 30 years. Top 6 within 0.446 secs and top 12 within 4.8 seconds. 17 official lead changes (at the start finish line) and another 23 lead changes during the race: thats 40 lead changes in 21 laps!!! morph THAT into MotoGP and we'd all be in heaven!!
Hi Jonny H, I was only able to be there on the saterday, I was there with Morgue and enjoyed a beautiful superpole.. But I have seen the races on tv and PC..great races..
Yeah it was great, the dash to the finish line in WSS reminded me of the Bayliss/Toseland finish last year at Assen. If only we could have races like that in MotoGP with a group finishing that close together... Probably not this weekend.
