All Ducatis break 200mph in qualifying.

Sort Comments:

Only Ducatis break 200mph in qualifying.

The Desmosedicis have once again dominated the top speed charts throughout the Chinese Grand Prix weekend, with only Honda's Dani Pedrosa able to prevent a perfect top four sweep of every session - the Spaniard clocking the second fastest top speed during Friday afternoon.

Nice for the books, but who cares. It is not going to make a difference anymore because they (Stoner especcially) will not be able to break out of the slipstream. The lawnmowers are the only bikes that have power problems.

All the jap manufacturers for one, and it makes a big difference Harry. It's not just top end it's the excelleration as well. Did you watch qualifying??? Watch when Toseland is following Guintoli onto the main staight. The Duk leaves the yam for dead and nowhere near being able to use the slipstream, the straights will make it hard for Rossi and co to match the Stoner....
p.s. I picked thoise two because of similar performances

Tolittleto..(?) I remember the shot you refer to.

The main straight was T2-T3, then the 180-right and the lefthander for the 2nd straight over the SF. Stoner didn't have a significant advantage with his 325 km/h in this area probably because Rossi can brake later on his Yamaha. We'll see tomorrow, but unless Stoner is a lot faster in the curvy part, he is unlikely to "ride away" only because of his topspeed. Surely it's not a disadvantage, but the engine is not all that is to a bike.

On the other hand Stoner "squares off" the 180-righthander quite a lot to use the brute power of his bike. Well, he just uses the Ducati best...

Then again, tomorrow it may rain...

u are right harry

the yamaha is so much more a better bike it appears to ride, but the ducati is a rocket in a straight line, which evens them up nicely.

esp with equally good riders on board with rossi and stoner.

if i had to choose a bike to ride, id go with the yamaha. just cos it seems more useable which must help over a race distance. but the yamaha has always been like that in recent years, used to be the other way round with the TZ in the 70s lol,

Yamaha on pole, 2 Yamahas on the front row, 4 Yamahas in the top 7.. but I'm sure the Yam riders would swap for a Ducati instantly for that extra 5ks down the straight. Lol
