After qualifying on the front row for the first time this year, Stoner had hoped to be fighting for his second 2008 victory - following two tough rounds - but a change in the weather prompted a tyre gamble, which backfired, leaving the Australian helpless to prevent Dani Pedrosa and Valentino Rossi riding into the distance.
Casey, it is totally ok to be disappointed when one have high ambitions! You are many peoples hero, my hero too! Learning from mistakes its part of it, I'm convinced you will win again soon and be a title contender. Now with Melandri hopefully finding how to ride the, you will both be more capable of developing the bike faster. :-)
I dont want to start this off by bashing stoner as I think he did OK. Obviously he's gonna be dissapointed as he's got used to winning over the last year. What i am dissapointed with was his reaction on the BBC interview after the race. He put the blame at the hands of his engineers and tyre person for persuading him to change settings before the race and then said that third this far off wasnt worth bothering with!! On the other hand Dani who ive never had a lot of time for was very possitive.
Am I also the only one who thought the race was overall quite boring?? As with the last 3 races, after the first few laps the first 3 never overtook each other!!
its funny cause you read in the other posts what a great and exciting race it was. i dont mean to be a stirrer but personally i think it was the rossi fans who were just excited he won again... but it seems that those fans were also the ones who said stoner winning last year was boring.
well i didnt see any over taking with the podium spots after the first couple of laps?
No doubt Casey is dissapointed as he didnt do a lap under 2minutes, while last year he got into the 1'59's. I wonder if they will do a back to back test with this years and last years bike. I am sure he will be more determined to win at LeMans than ever now.
Good to see Marco doing well, the Duke must be one hard sucker to ride quick.

As boring as any race I have ever seen. Happy to see a great champion back on the podium but I would of liked to of seen Pedrosa have a couple of late braking dives or something, anything to spice it up. Great ride by Lorenzo. How tough are these guys? If Stoner said he was happy with 3rd and be that far behind then Ducati would be right to replace him. He's a racer, an arrogant one (they all are), and they don't blame themselves very often. He may find it tough at Le Mans, a Rossi favorite for sure, but I don't think it will be too long before he's on the to step again. The most exciting thing at the moment is that the championship remains wide open with 4 genuine contenders.

When it's dry, it will be a tough job for Casey in Le Mans to come on the podium.. Le Mans is a real Michelin circuit so Pedrosa and Lorenzo will be in front so as Rossi.. It would be a great performance if CS wins there..
Edwards got poll last year (at Le Mans) and CS was quicker in qualifying than VR. In fact in the warmup CS was quickest and VR 11th! It was wet or damp looking at the times and Vermeulem won followed by Melandri and then Casey.
But judging by this years results its any bodies race!
Hopefully CS will do better than expected.

hey guys..why talking about le mans? it's still some time to go...let's talk about china race that just done....the fact is, stoney could not perform well...and the other fact is, he is now start grumbling about a wrong tyre choice or whatever...why??? are you following vale's style last year? grubling..grumbling and nothing but grumbling?????
also dani...he is now grumbling about the strong tail wind blah blah blah...why?????
are they (all of the motoGP riders) all the same? I mean they are sooooooo arogant and would never ever take the blame of losing a race ?? hmmm...........

Not the most interesting race this time - but we all know that Rossi is the producer of many of the most interesting fights in the past.
Melandri? - im sure Ducati would love to get a fellow countryman to the top - italian rider on the italian bike sounds perfect..the great stuff about Melandri is that he doesnt blame other stuff happening - which means he learns and hope this is the beginning of the end of his Learning, and that now he'll start applying what he learnt
If I were CS I wouldn't like ot read this blog, all his supporters are now talking about his chances if it rains....

Casey Moaner living up to his reputation yet again. His day is done, his one year to shine has been and gone. Now that the Ducati's advantage of last year has been closed his talent is all he has left, and its not really on a par with the likes of Rossi, Pedrosa and Lorenzo. Mid pack rider from now on with the occasional fast lap during pole will be his future.

Stoner - You know you are in big trouble when Colin "Texas mild breeze" Edwards overtakes you.
Good to see Malandri starting to get it together and happy, hopefully his confidence will return and the results will follow. It was gutting seeing a rider of his quality wobbling about at the back...here's to better days

I was excited that Rossi won again, but I agree the race was fairly boring. After the first 10 laps or so they all spread out or get in a rhythm and don't really pass much. Sorta sucks.
They didn't even show Stoners post-race interview on Speed channel. They showed Rossi, then Pedro, then just cut out and went onto the next program.

To call this race "as boring as any race" is a little bit of a spoiled reaction. The first few laps Rossi,Edwards,Stoner and Dani were battling it out with Lorenzo getting settled. In fact you didn't know who did really had the uperhand, until Dani "called it a day" which was quite close to the end. Rossi would have been cooler, but I guess he thought that "rabbit Dani" would be up and away as soon he would be in front. Something he's really good at.
The most boring races, at least from a winners standpoint, were run last year with the winner sometimes 10 to 30 seconds ahead of everybody. Glad that those days are over.
Also Stoner/ Ducati should be more competitive next time round

Melandri - also hope that as the season goes, he'll be a regular Flukey passer - so with a bunch of high class talents - as I said before - Stoner should go back to the middle where he belongs - behind Melandri and probably Dovisiozo as well.. the Ducati crew will lighten up - as they were pretty miserable after the China race having to absorb all the mental heaviness of Stoner's anger..their heads were down, they were all serious and depressed having to try to cheer up a spoilt brat .... ...again.. if Melandri starts doing what he did just now - we can expect some relieved Ducati Crew faces soon...
...also think Melandri gained some weight - his backside looked bigger on the seat..probably could lose a little - but again he'll do whatever needs to be done for him...
Gina. I hate to point this to you but just where is this ability that we know Marco has, ever, ever come close to beating his team mate? This is the biggest problem with whats going on with Ducati. Last year, his gifted mate Loris NEVER came close bar the win in Motegi. Marco's results are bad but you and me know that Marco is better than this so it has to point to the bike, which in turn is the problem for Techies. So the blame has to lie on their shoulders too.

Agree totally with Gina, Stoner shouldn't even be in MotoGp, he sux when it comes to racing and can only win when he has the best machinery. The rest of the bikes are now on par and he's a flop. Send him back to Ausland and find someone else who can mix it at the front. A has been, a nobody, maybe world rally would be better suited to him. Now that we have the real racers back up the front where they belong, we can finally have a proper championship.

Totally agree with that comment. Stoner should not have been given a Motogp ride, he has won no major titles and got lucky with a works ride. You here all the time about Aussies doing it hard, but look at the packed grids around the world, this is not just down to talent, as other nations have equally talented riders, and is arrogant to imply otherwise. Ducati seem to favour aussies, so Stoner was a given. It doesn't matter now though as he has won that 1 world title.
Marco is a track specialist, meaning he goes well at certain tracks. So expect him to beat Stoner on a few occasions this year, especially when he gets the bike somewhere near his liking.
