Montoya: NASCAR harder than 'boring' F1.

Montoya: NASCAR harder than 'boring' F1.

Juan-Pablo Montoya has delivered a stinging rebuke to the sport that delivered him seven grand prix victories, 13 pole positions, twelve fastest laps and no fewer than 30 podium finishes, blasting Formula 1 as ‘boring' and claiming that as far as the Americans are concerned, Lewis Hamilton is ‘Lewis Who?'

bradsta, he'll say it until he believes it! montoya was not so bad in F1, it was just that he was in the wrong team at the wrong time.

only montoya could think four corners are harder than sixteen lol seriously though he only keeps slaging f1 off because he thought he would be f1 champ and all he ended up being was a world class chump

the reality is no big team wanted him in f1 and he gone to a second class racing league.
thats it, now he can continue to moan as much as he wants.

I suspect that Montoya is finding Nascar harder because he is piling on the pounds and not taking enough exercise.

Seriously though, I watched the F1 and the NASCAR race at Infineon this weekend, despite NASCAR being out on the 'road course' this weekend it was a far more interesting race. I love my F1 but I am struggling to justify why I still watch it. I often rewatch my FIA season review from 1993 to remind me how good it could be.

Out on the Ovals NASCAR becomes very exciting. Tactics, racecraft and bravery (stupidity) make it an awesome spectacle.

montoya has never spoken a truer word F1 is no more than just a joke and is a dull boring procession look at motogp a 15 year old boy winnig his home race on privateer machinery in a fantastic race with loads of overtaking....when would you ever get that in FORMULA BORING!!!

i too just watched the nascar race, and watched the F1 at the weekend, and the nascar race was much more entertaining. stuff actually happens in the NASCAR racing on the track. whereas it was pretty obviuos it was a ferrari win coming in the F1.

yet, despite that, im still more a F1 fan, and will continue to be, but since the NASCAR came onto sky sports here, ive got much more interested.

If Montoya is so citical of F1 why did he ever join it, and if he is as good as he thinks he is why did he never win a championship? NASCAR is ok to watch but it is for me a bit boring to watch, but it is obviously good for him cos he can get away with being as fat as he likes and not have to worry about getting in the car!!

I've seen a Nascar race where the guy who started 27th was 5th in the first 5 laps, the guy who was 18th with 3 laps to go won the race and that was the only time he got the lead. I've seen a guy sent to the back of the field mid-race and come through the pack to win it. The first 15 qualifiers within 1 second is unheard of in F1. Nascar is harder as it is fiercely competitive no matter the track. Every event is a REAL race. The Nascar commentators are better as they are KNOWLEDGEABLE and do not subject viewers to the infantile drivel the F1 tossers spew. I have resorted at times to muting the sound and following online text. Why watch F1? I like anything with an engine and wheels.

Having followed F1 for the best part of 35 years, i often sit in the chair after watching the race & say to myself "why the hell did i bother!"
Maybe i live in the hope that the next race will be different (Like Montreal)& someone other than the usual (Ferrari/Maclaren)will win but that is never going to happen unless there is a major review of the whole F1 package, technical & organisational.
Never mind, one day it may happen but i'm not holding my breath!!

I used to watch F1. NASCAR has what F1 could only dream of. Close racing with drivers and cars that are so evenly matched that races are the result of strategy, guts and skill and are only decided on the last few laps, if not corners. Sadly my beloved MotoGP is going the way of F1.

Norma, cut the crap about "why u even bother to watch if u dont like it?"
Maybe the f1 score these days is good for u, u may think that s some awesome racing.
Well, i and many more, dont. In fact we think the f1 layout as of today is the most boring, most stupid and anti racing form of f1 ever.
f1 is f1 thanks to THE FANS. and if the fans dont like it, they have every right to express so.
So no more of this f1 police crap pls.

I subscribed to Sky Sports this year just to watch Nascar. Racing on Ovals in a pack is tough and a definite skill. Anyone who doesn't understand that is just ignorant to the issues they experience such as turbulent air from all directions and ever changing track conditions.

This weekend I turned off F1 half way through to watch the MotoGP build up as it was more interesting than what was happening on ITV. F1 is not a sport anymore, it's not a race. It's a money making exercise where the race is mostly won or lost on Saturday before the lights even go out on Sunday. I'm loosing interest and looking at what is classed as as sellout at Silverstone these days a lot of people are too.

Damn straight. F1 could do well to remember that it's the fans that make it what it is, the fans that generate the money. If no one watches no one wants to sponser, manufacturers don't see a return from their investment so don't enter.

I've stopped watching for the good of the sport. Maybe everyone turning off is what it needs to wake up and make some serious changes.

foo, i agree that we should just turn off, but how on earth would bernie and max know this? they do a deal with tv companies, but the companies have no idea of how many watch the race or what revenue it brings them. they just screw the advertisers who in turn hope that the airing of their ad during a race will bring in customers. personally i dont think that i have ever bought an item because i saw the advert during a race. really the only ones who can "vote",are the paying spectators.if they boycot a race, the track owners will lose, and bernie will take he race elsewhere. so what can realisticly be done????
