de Puniet: Rossi rejoined, I didn't…

Randy de Puniet saw an impressive fifth on the grid go to waste when he was taken out by Valentino Rossi on the opening lap of Saturday's Dutch TT.

its a shame after such a good qualy. vale has had one or 2 moments like that at the start when he has got away slow, usually he gets away with it or someone jumps out the way to avoid a clash, but that wont happen for ever. tho today was a mistake rather than a rash move.

worst thing was the marshells went over to rossi bike, despite randy clearly being in some discomfort.

but as i say shame for Randy, but thats racing

What about misano last season?

didn't he pretty much ruin what could have been a half decent race?

shame yes, but its not like rossi hasn't apologized for it...

these things happen in racing...move on to the next round.

Real shame for De Puniet, just when it's going good....

On the plus side, Rossi usually has the good grace to apologise when he does **** up, and he's done that here. Even though Edwards' race was compromised, I think watching him cut through the pack will have sent his stock higher than running around to finish second (his real pace). I convinced Tech 3 will keep him for 2009.

It seems that Randy has tasted his own medicine there. Maybe he'll think twice now. As for the comment that Rossi went in too hot, he's obviously not seen a replay - unlike him, Rossi CAN brake and arrive at the corners on the correct pace - he got on the gas a fraction too early on cold tires.

Ahhh well Randy, the boot was on the other foot this time. Get over it.

OMG, Randy was hardly having a hissy fit lol! u fans well over react.

Randy has had a few moments in the past no question(too many!), so has rossi. i think le mans either in 06 or 07 he tried a rash move down the inside of the chicane bring many down, tho he rode of fine. so it goes both ways, yes randy has caused accidents, so has rossi too, despite what people might think. or the press might tell us!

Tho on this occasions, Rossi just got it very wrong, rather than being rash. so dont have to much problem with it.

I think Rossi should not ride fast on the first lap as its dangerous out there. Maybe he should let everyone settle down and then start his charge by overtaking one by one from behind, avoiding further crashes for himself or his motogp collegues. In this way he can secure a win and avoid loosing points. I just hope Rossi or his team read this.

Thanks!!!

Randy should have hammered that self centred prima donna for that stupid act.
Then to claim he rode the race with NO GEAR LEVER is absurd.
So he just stayed in what ever gear for the whole race? What a total ****,he will do anything to get the attention back on himself.

Greg I think it's maybe that Randy is really, as big a spectator as the marshalls come race day...Bet if Stoner and Rossi fell at the same corner they'd still go to Rossi, you've either got it or you haven't...nothing inferred by that statement..

As people say, thats racing. Although I feel sorry for DePuniet, teams like LCR don't get much chances like that.

Although I find the comments from some people quite amusing. Imagine it had been the other way around. It would have been far from "just racing". Many here would be after DePuniets blood rather than being appologetic for him.

wintersun ... save your time.

Its about money & the broadcasters that are replacing Eurosport have exclusivity clauses within their regions.

The deals are done, just live with it.

did you people knocking the marshalls actually watch the race? When they both fell Rossi immediately ran to his bike to pick it up. It was few seconds before Randy felt the pain hit him. Before that he was walking away in frustration, by which time the marshalls were almost at Rossi to help him with the bike. Had Randy been in pain on the floor etc, I'm sure the marshalls would have gone to him first.

The last thing Valentino wanted to do was crash. He was just very keen to not let Pedro/Stoner get away from him and made a mistake (like we all do). Racing incident nothing more and he had the good grace to apologise to RDP for it.

how - did you even watch the race??? they showed rossi's bike in the garagre after the race and you could clearly see there was a lot of damage to the gear lever - he had a bit of metal the thickness of a dinner knife to change gear with...

people go on about rossi and stoner fanboys, but the depuniet fans that have come out the woodwork (all four of them) are a strange bunch...

Richard - that crash was on a closed throttle same as Toseland's last week - just a racing incident however and an amazing feat to get those points with no gear lever.
