'Proud' Stoner celebrates home run.

Casey Stoner returned to the top step of the podium with a runaway fifth victory of the season in front of his home fans at Phillip Island on Sunday - an event that marked Ducati's 100th MotoGP race.

Good going by Stoner, his bike seemed to shake and twist at times but he kept it all under control,
good comments after the race as well. Must be great to win a home race like that.
Fantastic track and scenic landscape.
IMHO there were a lot of crashes over the weekend, some really violent ones like those of Fabrizio Lai, Alex Debon, Ranseder (came out of hospital today) and Guintoli. Could the track temperature have to do with that? Dorna should reschedule the race next year.

Morgue - have you had a look at the race analysis on motoGp.com? - tells an interesting story about the race and how the top three were running it. Rossi's ride was everything we have come to expect of him, Hayden is looking like a man who's escaped the noose and is determined to party, party, party, Toseland did mucho better.. Stoner ran a pretty cool race, well under control, very professional. IS looking good for next year, I think.

Gina, like you I love this forum, it's so juvenile and makes me feel 20 years younger, like being back in school don't you think ?

We can make things up about people, slag them off every time their name is mentioned, call them liars, thick, abuse anyone who differs in opinion, anything we like really..

Bullies Rule ..ok !!!

Morgue,.."Dorna should reschedule the race next year"
WHY?? 20deg.C., blue skies,..perfect day for racing!...
How does that compare to Europe in spring??

The track temp seemed low, or am I mistaken? During 125 and 250 as well.
It looks like a pretty exposed place out there near the sea. Dovi was wearing woolen gloves on the grid before the race,
or is he just a sissy?
Conditions in 'Europe' are hard to describe as there are many different locations and climatic differences
but a lot of the tracks are situated in more wooded areas

"The track temp seemed low, or am I mistaken?"

It was clear and sunny. Darryl Beattie and Mick Doohan both commented on how unusually warm and perfect the conditions were. Mick pointed out he was wearing a t-shirt, which is rare at PI.

"It looks like a pretty exposed place out there near the sea...."

It is very exposed. It's a tiny Island!!!

At least it wasn't pouring down like at Indy.

These are professional bike riders - should stop winging.

Casey rode perfectly today and deserved the win. And the next six riders didn't do so badly either!

But what to say of Melandri? He seems to be getting worse with every outing: the only thing he seems to put any effort into are his excuses. I'm sure that the Ducati is a difficult bike to ride and might entail a change in riding style, but isn't that what he's paid for? The Alice riders have occasionally shown some speed, but Marco...

He'd better ride the wheels off his new Kawasaki or his reputation, what's left of it anyway, will be thoroughly shot.

This is the only way stoner can win that is when vale is not well and is not in first 2 rows.Next year nicky will be different team mate and will give him a tough time.Great achievement by Rossi considering the grid position and physical condition.

Its very easy to diss Marco Melandri, however i honestly believe he cannot ride the ducati bike. When he rode with yamaha, he had decent results, when he moved to Honda, he had wins under his belt, great year in 2005. Marco has not forgotten how to ride. IMO, he only can ride the japanese bikes. Moving to kawasaki, with factory support should produce better results, but kawasaki has a long way to go before they can even win a race. Kawasaki should fire all their race engineers/test riders who are giving the wrong feedback and find fresh minds who can produce a bike that can battle for wins. Kawasaki should take a page from the Yamaha book and bring their own chief engineer to races.

Although it might seem I am knocking Stoner, but isn't he a bit like Wayne Rainey

Congratulations Stoner, when unchallenged he rides very well. Its good to see his "career threatening wrist" suddenly ok. No mention of it today???????????? and he seemed to pick that champagne bottle up with both hands and shake it.Not bad for a "career threatening injury" hahahahahahha
Well done Toseland

Well ridden by Stoner and a good interview afterwards. I think the lad is maturing...
And major congrats to Hayden who was just a worn out Micelin from 2nd. I think he and Casey will put on quite a show next year.
And Rossi will continue to be the benchmark by which all the others are judged.
