Formula 1 World Championship leader Lewis Hamilton did his utmost to break Ferrari's spirit by turning what had looked like being a scarlet benefit in qualifying for this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix into pole position for McLaren-Mercedes – with title rival Felipe Massa able to do no better than fifth.
I suppose it's good for Hamilton to have his team mate and Alonso between himself and Massa, but that Ferrari's not slow and I guess that Ferrari have tried to fuel Kimi to second guess what McLaren would do with Lewis and try and plant him as a spoiler. I hope it's well worth getting up at 4am for tomorrow!!
LH has got to stay very focus on this one. I've seen LH beaten by a Ferrari at the first corner a couple of times & then remained in 2nd place for the rest of the race. KR can be very competitive when he's up in front. Lewis, stay focus.

I think it's going to be interesting to see how Massa makes his way from 5th... He's not been too good at this in the past...
Yes I agree that Kimi has less fuel to try to annex the front row but Lewis snapped it from them. Let's wait and see how much fuel Lewis has... By the reaction of the pit crew I think he's done well with what he's got on board.
Hopefully it will rain again tomorrow and then there'll be a good race :P
It seems a number of team bosses had a showdown with Charlie Whiting at Fuji. They were angry over the 21 minutes Charlie took to penalize NR & RK in Singapore. Charlie's explanation was that he & the stewards were too busy dealing with FM's pit-stop mess. I thought FM came into the pit more than 10 minutes after NR & RK? Do the stewards need to take more than 10 minutes to make regulated penalty? Just watch Charlie & the stewards screwed up the race in Fuji.

Massas unsafe exit was cut & dried for ALL to see (inc the team AND the stewards ) if Ferrari argued with the stewards for a further 11 mins on a lost cause then the penalty should have been increased... for futile time-wasting. Williams and BMW (as did all the teams)knew the penalty for pitting under the safety car( a sh1t ruling anyway )and the stewards again had no need to debate that one either....
Hamilton Storms to pole...hhhmmm dont see what that title has to do with what happened with regards to penalties and what not in Singapore.....Anways back to Qualifying...was disappointed in the Williams performance but it was never going to be a great qualifying for them....Good mix up at the front..Alonso did well in the end as did Kovvi...Toyotas are going to be another rolling road block...Hopefully the STR boys will get past them....going to be an interesting first corner...Kimi to make contact with Hamilton - wonder what the odds on that are??
GO LEWIS! The end of the season looks promising especially with Fernando dragging his reggie into the mix!
I hope whatever happens it's settled by racing rather than silly penalties, safety cars & brazillians driving off whilst plugged into the fuel pump!

I'm going to be checking the F1 website every hour 'til the race to see what excuse they use to push Hamilton back down the grid.
FIA rules Chapter 34.523, paragraph 6351.32, sentance 4321.7654: Thou must not smile in wry fashion at a Ferrai driver when being weighed after qualifying.
Dam... shouldn't have said that - the MaFIA are now going to look at the evidence....
Munro Gow, you could be right. Ferrari will probably tell KR to take Lewis out if he gets to turn 1 first. Got a bad feeling bout that one...

This is how I see it, KR was fueled light so to ensure a FIA 1 & 2, but as KR did his bit FM didn't, LH by getting pole no matter what fuel load is still a spanner in the works FIA and HK being third, well his role is to drive as slow as possible to hold up Alonso, who will slow up Massa. But then Alonso has no loyalty to ensure Massa stays behind. If Hamilton gets a clean getaway then he will be at least 10 seconds ahead of massa by the time he pits, with a long middle stint ahead of him, but if KR gets ahead his job will be to slow everyone down, he has the pace to keep Hamilton second, so its really up to HK to maintain his race pace. I still see it KR, LH, FM, 1, 2 & 3

Guys the singapore race has been dealt with on previous stories, the stewards were far to slow to deliver the first penalties that occured during the race on NR and RK which allowed them an unfair advantage, well NR did, allowing him to get the hammer down on a clear track for too long a time facter, They should have served the penalty three laps after the SC came in. Why the Massa incident was dealt with first as it was a lesser penalty, was done obviously to benefit the Ferrari. I would say that the Stewards there were very clever people to work it all out fast or where they helped

Does anyone know why they had green stripes on the tyres?
@Dale431: it's just some pointless (read hypocritical) environmental 'awareness' campaign set up by the FIA:
"FIA's 'Make Cars Green' campaign, which is promoting greater environmental awareness amongst drivers and the motoring industry." apparently, "Green technology is the future of Formula 1"
more info here itv-f1.com/news_article.aspx?id=44183
(don't know if the link will be censored out of the post, if it is just do a search for 'Green' tyres in F1)
